Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UCSD. More than 3,000 fish
call this newest member of San Diego's animal attractions home.
You'll also enjoy the interactive displays, oceanographic museum,
specialty bookshop, and one of the city's most spectacular views.
One of the great things about staying in La Jolla is that you can
follow a day at the beach with a night on the town without ever
getting in the car. Pack a jacket and tie, and head to the gourmet
restaurants of Prospect Street where anything from sushi to steak
to pasta is served with a breathtaking ocean view. There are also
plenty of restaurant options for the whole family, including the
famous Hard Rock Café.
Whale Watching
- Whale watching season with Hornblower Cruises &
Events is December through March, with approximately 28,000 gray
whales passing by the San Diego coast. Whale watchers are treated to the
awe-inspiring sight of these majestic giants while aboard a comfortable
Hornblower whale watching yacht in southern California. Each three and a
half-hour whale watching adventure is narrated by an experienced captain with
information exclusively endorsed by the San Diego Natural History Museum.
Other wildlife, such as sea lions, blue herons and three kinds of dolphins
put in appearances.
Cruise times are 9:30 a.m. -1 p.m., and 1:30 p.m. -5 p.m. Boarding begins 15-minutes before departure time.
